In 2019, the International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA), held a very successful discussion among its central bank representatives. They exchanged views on clean note policies.
IACA is delighted to announce that the next IACA Member Discussions will take place at the Currency Conference 2021 in Mexico City, on Sunday May 16th, in the Hilton Mexico City Reforma. A first discussion open only to IACA central bank representatives will take place from 15:00 to 16:00. At 16:00, the meeting will be opened to all IACA delegates to the Conference.
Please consult the IACA website in 2021 for additional details. IACA looks forward to welcoming all IACA delegates in Mexico City.

The winners from 2019 IACA Excellence in Currency Awards are:
Best New Banknote or Series
- Bank of Canada – New vertical $10 banknote. The introduction of this note marks a shift towards a staggered approach to note issuance.
Best New Commemorative or Limited Circulation Banknote
- Bank of Canada - $10 banknote issued in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the process by which the modern Dominion of Canada was first created.
Best Banknote Processing Innovation
- CDI2 (Common Detector Interface 2) - an open standard for high-speed banknote sorting machines created by the Federal Reserve System and the European Central Bank
Best Banknote Public Education Program, Website, or App
- South African Reserve Bank – currency mobile app with the purpose of driving awareness and education on the various features of the new commemorative South African banknote series.
The 2021 Award Finalists will be recognized Monday, May 17 during Opening Session of the Conference.
